Originally trained in Fashion and eventually transitioning into Fine Arts and Design, Grace Tan relentlessly explores a wide variety of materials, creating textures, structures, and new possibilities for any medium her hands graze upon. Her erudite approach to tackle chaos, the use of rhythm, repetition, and systems to create sculptural works make the seemingly random process rather cerebral, and that’s exactly what we love about her stuff. Her current series, Materials and Methods, is currently exhibited at the POLA Museum in Tokyo, and damn, she’s killing it – gently. And methodically.
