Gerald Leow started out as a dark horse in the Singapore Contemporary Art sphere; While most of our artists are trained in art institutions, a good bulk of Gerald’s artistic training was gained from fabricating props and sets. Coming from such diverse background allowed him to express his concepts in a more grounded and relatable fashion — never running short of tension (may it be juxtaposing the sacred with the profane, or making brief commentaries about authenticity and culture) and thought, which makes his works all the more interesting. All this, while still having the time to ride his BMX.
